The best so far

I have recently tried out a few new razors after using a Merkur Futur for the last ten years. Among the ones I have tried are the Feather AS-D2, Rex Ambassador and the Henson AL13. All of there are good razors (some may call them high-end razors) but the one I have enjoyed the most is the Rockwell. It's got a perfect combination of smoothness and efficiency that the others lack. The Rex Ambassador is adjustable and the blade gap is comparable to a lower Rockwell setting, but at 1 the Rex still feels a lot more aggressive and not as forgiving. The Henson is very mild and smooth, too mild and smooth for me. Plus it is too light (aluminium) for my taste.
All in all the Rocwell rocks. Best I have tried and I even ordered a second one for backup/travel. The build quality is good, durable stainless steel with a toollike appearence. Good grip with wet hands. The CNC machined polished finish of the Rex is a lot better but for a razor the only thing that matters is the way it performs (in my book). And the Rockwell performs best.
The one thing I'm not a fan of is that the blade tabs stick out from the top cap. I would prefer a bit wider top cap, but that is not big problem.

Razor Blues

I ordered the silver 6S because the blue has been sold out … I found them in stock, supposedly at Yourshaving in Spain and paid more and shipping only to be sent another silver one. How deceptive. Looks like I keep getting cheated by Rockwell dealers.

Awesome razor!

I'm impressed with the quality of the Rockwell 6S -- it's very sturdy and should outlast me.

Rockwell Ausie

Hi im from Australia so this may help somebody i have been shaving some 65 years with old DE razors all of which are skin cutters and rash givers, all except my beautiful Gillette Adjustable Fat Boy from 1957 and I never thought I would ever find a razor equal to or better than Fat Boy, but this 6s is the best razor ever made; will not cut or abraze skin ever; quality will last for ever; beautiful heavy weight like my old Fat Boy; no excess of parts or bits to wear out or break; makes shaving a pleasure, my thanks to the young boys who invented the system that should have been started by the big companys years ago. expensive maybee depends on how you qualify lasting lifetime use against constant re buying of other razors and cartridges and the lack of skin care by them. Perfect tool everytime for shaving.

I was using a Merkur chrome razor when it started to corrode after a couple of years. I did some research for a replacement and found the 6S. It appealed to me because 1) it was made of stainless steel, and 2) it was Made in the USA. Though it was double the price of the Merkur it was money well spent. The 6S is still in almost new condition after two years of use and I don't expect to replace it any time soon. Solid.

I like it!

I'm new to using a safety razor so I don't have any experience for comparison, but so far so good. I get a nice, close shave, and my skin is much less irritated that when I was using cartridges.

Best I ever used.

It's a heavier razor and handles differently than I'm used to.. At first on #4 plate I was using to much pressure, didn't know how to hold it, I was getting pulls and razor burn. I was disappointing. I thought it was the razor. It was me. Not that I have it somewhat figured out it is the smoothest razor I ever used. Most of my simac razors look worn. I know this one will last.

First Impressions

I have received my Razor a week ago now, packaging is premium and would be great for a gift or presentation to someone.
Finish on the Razor is very good with no flaws
Weight is quite heavy but is my preference.
Knurling is very good, great grip but not rough like other razors with this pattern.

I used the razor the first time using plate 4 which I found very mild , but exceptionally smooth and comfortable, however by the late afternoon I felt that I had stubble and needed another shave.

Next I tried plate 5 I found this much better , and also smooth . I shaved my face and also my head and got a comfortable nick free shave even at the back of the head, I completed all three passes on plate 5.

Next I have been using plate 6 for all three passes
And have used it for three more shaves completing two passes on plate 6 with a couple of pick ups achieving BBS.

I bought the 6S for two main reasons , I live in a tropical environment where it is very high temperatures day and night all year around and around 90-100% humidity and wanted a stainless steel razor for corrosion resistance.
The second reason is the versatility of interchangeable plates meaning I can tailor the shave to what suits me.

I have used a new feather hi stainless on plate 4 for the first shave , and the other shaves using a Gillette 7O’clock Green.
I recommend trying multiple different types of blade in a new razor before making a judgement, especially if you do not experience a good shave with that new razor, as each razor is different too and blades may feel different in the new razor.

Overall I am very happy with my Razor and would recommend buying one to anyone
There are many favourable reviews on YouTube etc, and this is for good reason , this is a well made and versatile razor that will suit most users, there is a plate that will suit beginners right through to experienced wet shavers .
