    T2 stainless steel stand kit

I ordered the T2 ss Sunday and received it on Tuesday. I had my first shave with it today morning, Thursday.
I'm very new to wet shaving with a safety razor , a month maybe.
This is a fantastic razor. Very smooth and very efficient.
Nice weight to it and the look is great.
    Worth every penny.

Not the quality I’d expect in this price range

I had high expectations based on earlier experiences.
Have seen and used Canadian made razors earlier and this does not seem to match the reputation.
The razor is visibly asymmetric and skewed.

    Wow

I am very pleased with my Rockwell T2SS.
I did not know shaving could be this comfortable. Motivated by an environmental vision I started using a safety razor 15 years ago. No more plastic to the landfill and a blade I can deposit to be recycled.
I was hoping for delivery of my new razor on a Friday so let my beard grow a couple of days before. I received my razor on Monday and with the beginnings of a beard I loaded my preferred blade into my new razor and with the first two inch swipe of my cheek, I stopped and exclaimed to my wife “I have never experienced anything like this before “. With no sensation at all my skin was BBS (baby butt smooth). I continued at a setting of 5 and finished my shave. I was in awe. I turned down to setting 1 and did a second pass (it was not necessary but it’s a new razor!). I applied aftershave and once again was shocked, no sensation, no burning, no tingling and that was consistent across my entire face.
Is this what shaving is suppose to be like? I had no idea it could be like this. I forced myself to take a day off shaving over the last 3 weeks so I could make a comparisons but shaving daily is now a pleasure, and without prompting my wife said (after 8 days with the new razor) your skin has really improved. I have never had a flawless complexion but now in my 50’s this is the best my skin has ever been.
Expensive yes, worth it, I have all hopes and expectations to use this razor for my lifetime and with its feel I expect the quality will last and make this an heirloom way way way down the road.

Following are two photos, and I understand everything has a tolerance. I noticed on initial inspection that when open there is a difference in the “doors” of the TTO mechanism. While one door is smooth and fit like a bearing the other has 10 thousands of an inch play. When closed everything is solid. Any input or insight would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Craig

    An Heirloom Razor?

I have a special place in my heart for my father's 1960 Gillette fatboy. He loved that razor. I love my Rockwell T2, in fact I own two of them, one in gunmetal and the other in stainless steel. The stainless has become my everyday razor and I mean that. I get such fantastic shaves that I do shave everyday. It has become one of my daily "me time" pleasures.

    First DE Safety Razor

I love this razor. I made a great decision in getting adjustable razor because I can fine tune the blade gap depending on what blade im using. Since I'm new I've been trying a lot of different blades. I haven't even cut myself once (knock on wood lol).

Best shaves I have had in my life. Slightly better than the 6s, mainly due to better adjustability. Better blade feel and easier to adapt to this razor. I could not get a better shave with any other razor at any price.

    Upgrade to the 6CS

I figured I’d write a review as like many, I’m a big fan of the 6CS which is almost the perfect razor.
I have 3 6CS and have given them as birthday gifts to a couple relatives I like them so much.
I have 0 affiliation to Rockwell and purchased this T2S when they offered a long weekend discount at the end of June for small discount; still a very expensive razor. I don’ have a website or catchy name in order to sell something. Simply and end user.
The twist to open or butterfly mechanism is still lost on me. Yes – it’s pretty cool to watch the mechanism at work but my big concern was can it tighten down on the blade like the 6C or would it be like the fluttering useless Merkur Futur adjustable that allows blade flex and bloodletting.
The T2S clamps down amazing tight giving the structure fantastic stability. The blade feels as rock solid as the 6C. The clamp has a stop to prevent over or under tightening which is a nice touch.
The other interesting part of the design is the fact the cap of the T2S is virtually the same dimension of the 6CS.
Shaving? It sounds different, definitely cuts closer on setting 5 than the 6CS using the most aggressive #6 mount, which I use exclusively.
I can shave right under my nose and get every whisker in down motion which is great and the learning curve for this razor was much shorter than expected. With a fresh blade I need to turn in down a bit initially but can dial it right back up after the first shave and leave it at that setting until the blade dulls.
Yes it is better than the 6CS. I get a better shave, which I’m quite happy about considering how good the 6CS is.
Given the complexity of the T2S I highly doubt it is as robust as the 6CS. I don’t think the T2S would fair as well as the 6CS if dropped. I’ll still keep a 6CS at work and in my gym bag but for my daily shaver, definitely the T2S
I would have included some comparison pictures but the Rockwell website doesn't offer the option
